Hunger and malnutrition are the number one risk to health worldwide.[i]
At Kellogg, we’ve been working to fight hunger for more than 30 years. In fact, Kellogg donates more than $20 million worth of food products for hunger and disaster relief annually, on average, working with national food bank networks across the globe. In the U.S., our product donations are through partnerships, primarily Feeding America. In addition, we provide financial support for The Global Foodbanking Network, an international organization dedicated to creating and strengthening food banks and food bank networks.
As part of our ongoing efforts, we are proud to recognize World Food Day, which brings attention to the struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty.

Kellogg has a variety of World Food Day activities scheduled around the world including:
Donating $125,000 in cash and product donations through Kellogg’s Corporate Citizenship Fund to six organizations, mainly food banks, in Latin America. Also, Kellogg employees will volunteer at food bank locations in Mexico, Guatemala and Colombia to provide Kellogg breakfasts.
Kicking-off the “Help Give a Child a Breakfast” campaign in the U.K. to raise $480,000 to donate to schools most in need to help provide breakfast for children who are going to school hungry.
Volunteering at community food banks and food distribution sites across the U.S. in the month of October as part of United Way Days of Caring.
But fighting hunger is more than World Food Day for Kellogg as we have a number of ongoing programs. In particular, we support “breakfast clubs” that provide morning meals to children in countries where government-sponsored breakfast programs don’t exist. Since 1998, we have helped launch more than 500 breakfast clubs around the world.
Action for Healthy Kids
In the U.S., the federal government does fund school breakfast programs. Yet, fewer than half the 19.4 million children who are eligible for free or reduced-price breakfasts actually take part. To help, we’re providing support for Action for Healthy Kids through grants aimed at increasing student participation.
For the 2010-11 school year, our grants boosted participation in breakfast programs by 28 percent, resulting in more than 476,000 additional breakfasts served during the school year in 82 schools.
Fighting Hunger Together
In 2012, Kellogg is partnering with Walmart and other companies in Fighting Hunger Together, donating a total of $450,000 from the company and Kellogg’s Corporate Citizenship Fund to Feeding America. Kellogg also supported in-store signage at Walmart and communications to raise awareness of the Fighting Hunger Together program.
Kellogg also has an opportunity for others to get involved. Kellogg currently donates $5 to The Global Foodbanking Network for feedback on the company’s 2011 Corporate Responsibility Report (up to a $10,000 cap total).
